Crown St Mall Vehicle Permits

The Crown Street Mall is a pedestrian-friendly environment and as such vehicles are not generally permitted in the Mall.

Emergency vehicles and those that display approved and current entry permits on their windscreen may enter under certain conditions.

Vehicle permits are issued by the City Centre team on a case-by-case basis. If you would like to enquire obtaining a vehicle permit, please read the permit conditions below and fill out the enquiry form on this page.

Parking permit requests are processed Monday to Fridays between 9am and 5pm. To allow sufficient time to process your request, please allow up to 3 working days. If your permit is urgent, please contact the City Centre Team on 02 4227 7778 or Council’s Customer Service Team on 02 4227 7111.

Vehicle Permit Conditions

• Permits must be clearly displayed on the windscreen of the vehicle upon entry, inside the window that face the traffic aisle.
• Do not park in any area that may hinder free passage of emergency vehicles and/or pedestrians.
• Maximum speed is 8 kilometres per hour (walking pace) and hazard lights must be used.
• If reversing you MUST have a spotter behind the vehicle to assist and ensure there are no pedestrians.
• Always give-way to pedestrians.
• Any alterations to a permit issued will render it invalid.
• Do not block fire doors or equipment at any time.
• The vehicle permit is only valid in Crown Street Mall.
