‘soft drawing’ Workshop with Michele Elliot

Join artist Michele Elliot for a two-day workshop working with thread and stitch to create a ‘soft’ drawing. This two-day workshop will focus on basic hand stitching and experimental embroidery techniques combined with simple design and compositional exercises.

Michele will guide you through this workshop where you’ll use cloth instead of paper, where you will test out patterns and shapes, textures and layers with different hand-stitch applications.

Participants will experiment and combine these techniques and discover ways to use thread for mark making.

What to bring:

• Basics will be provided (some tools and some fabric).
• If practical, bring your own sewing kit.
• This workshop asks you to work with a personal motif or memory, it’s helpful if you bring something that has meaning to you (different fabric, ribbon, threads etc).
