Calling all musicians and bands, here's your chance to Tune In to some free workshops this May!
These free events are perfect for up-and-coming or experienced musicians, offering tips and advice on getting gig opportunities and promoting yourself, panel talks from some music makers and self-starters, networking opportunities and a masterclass on overcoming common obstacles for artists.
We've got two options for you to choose from, with one for young people (ages 12 - 25) and another all ages workshop.
The Push Presents: The Business of Being an Artist
Saturday 24 May from 1 - 3pm, Society City Wollongong
If you're aged 12-25 and passionate about music, this workshop is perfect for you! Join us for a free workshop with Jamison (Melbourne/Naarm) and learn everything you need to know to kickstart your music career. You'll cover:
- Setting up as a band or solo artist
- Getting gig opportunities
- Promoting the show
- At the gig and after the gig: what to expect

Music NSW presents Sound Advice: The Artist’s First Aid Kit
Saturday 31 May from 12 - 4pm, Thirroul Railway Hall
Want tools and advice on getting it all done: from setting goals, to managing your time and wellbeing, and overcoming challenges along the way?
Across a panel and masterclass, hear from artists Sophie McComish (Body Type), Holly Throsby and Hayley Lyon (Lady Lyon) and Mark Rogers (Ocean Party) about these essential skills you need to develop as you build your career. Close out the day with a gig by local punk band Sevilles and leave inspired to take on whatever is next for you and your music.
What to expect:
- 12 - 1pm: Keep On, Keeping On in-conversation panel with Sophie McComish (Body Type), Holly Throsby and Hayley Lyon (Lady Lyon), hosted by Mark Rogers (Ocean Party)
- 1 - 2pm: Lunch provided by Ciro's Pizza & networking
- 2 - 3pm: Get Your Act Together problem-solving masterclass with Sophie McCormish (Body Type)
